Since Pakistan's cricket team rarely gives us reasons to be proud, when we do win a match, social media understandably goes into a frenzy. Pakistan bagged a thrilling 29-run win over South Africa at the World Cup today and put themselves in the running for the quarter-finals.

It is really a shame that personal interests and egos restrain Pakistan from playing a team that could reflect its true potential. No other team in the world does this. One can well imagine what the outcome of the match would have been if the tour committee had persisted with Nasir Jamshaid and made Umer Akmal keep the wickets.

Pakistan always have such immense raw talent that is dangerous all the time. No other country have such raw talent without coaching and other stuff. Pakistani team is always treat to watch due to their unpredictability. They can win against any unbeatable opposition and can lose against even my street,s cricket team.

@Awais Ali We should not cherish unpredictability. This is sign of a weak team. Even Ireland beat England in a crucial match. Team needs to be consistent and not the odd group of players who can beat or lose any team on a given day.

Misbah and Safaraz are the only 2 reliable batsmen unless Afridi booms out of no where. I have no problem with Pakistan bowling. Today Pakistan won because of bowling. Batting needs big improvements. I can confidently say Ireland are superior than Pakistan in batting. Pakistan fielding is also the worst by missing catchs in previous games with India and W Indies cost is the game. Thanks to Safaraz today he made amazing catchs or else Pakistan would have easily lost. Pakistan is still unpredictable team. I wont be shocked of Pakistan won the World Cup.

@lafanga : Unpredictability is the beauty of Pakistan's team. You sit in front of the TV with a cup of civilized tea and the next moment that tea is in your lap or on the face of the person sitting next to you. The most underscored players suddenly bloom right in front your eyes and become overnight heroes. Other teams have established players, we know what they are expected to do, they do it and the excitement wears off, but can you equal that with what Sarfaraz did today ? Never.

Although this is not a comparison, today victory against South Africa remind me of a victory at Oval test 1954. After the world cup, whether Pakistan wins or loses, Moin and Waqar along with those who appointed them should be permanently thrown out of the Pakistan cricket.

Cannot believe how the entire country is celebrating the win against S.A. we are forgetting this was a pool match only. I guess this is due to low expectations we have from our team. Celebration is only justified after any team wins the world cup and not pool matches.

Today I believed that there is some one, u may call him whatever, (though I do not believe) who has supported Pakistan through the match. Otherwise a team who has not been playing international matches since long, imbedded in the dirty politics of Control Board, bad image of players for 'fixing' matches and common people who had lost all hope despite all that rose to the occasion and gave a befitting reply to the mighty SA.

If no major upset happens now, Pakistan will face Australia in Quarter Finals ... and that would be the end of Pakistan's campaign . However, if Pak somehow manages to defeat Australia - 1 in 100 chance , they would go on to win the cup.
