KARACHI: The commerce ministry has constituted a committee to conduct appraisal of the proposed projects for export promotion and to ensure judicious disbursement of the budget of the Export Development Fund.

The decision to this effect was taken at the 67th meeting of the board of directors of the EDF held on Tuesday in Islamabad, headed by Commerce Minister Khurram Dastagir Khan.

According to details, a committee, headed by the commerce secretary, will vet all the proposals for financial assistance before forwarding them to the board for approval.

The third-party audit of the EDF projects was approved.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister for commerce said that his ministry was making efforts to devise an effective mechanism to utilise available funds more effectively for export enhancement.
