SIALKOT: Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said on Sunday that the armed forces were fully capable of effectively responding to any aggression and protecting the country’s boundaries.

Addressing a ceremony in Iman Sahib area, he condemned shelling by Indian Border Security Force on Pakistani villages along the Working Boundary and termed it naked aggression.

Khawaja Asif said the shelling was an attempt to divert attention of Pakistan from the operation against terrorism.

He said Pakistan as a peace-loving country was making sincere efforts to develop cordial relations with its neighbours on the basis of equality but India was trying to create unrest in the region.

The defence minister said that Operation Zarb-i-Azb had been launched to eliminate terrorists and restore the write of the state in troubled areas.
