LAHORE: Underfire chief selector Moin Khan will explain his position on Monday to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman over his controversial visit to a Christchurch casino during the ongoing World Cup.
Moin along with his wife and friends was seen at a casino ahead of the crucial match against the West Indies by a Pakistani couple who aired some photographs on the social media.
A spokesman for the PCB said that the former wicket-keeper will visit the Board headquarters on Monday afternoon to meet PCB chief Shaharyar Khan.
The PCB, which was already under tremendous pressure due to the team’s appalling performance in the mega event, pressed the panic button when pictures of Moin at the casino went viral by ordering the embattled chief selector back.
Interestingly, though Moin was on the tour as chief selector, he remained independent, for the former wicket-keeper was not a part of the World Cup squad.
It may also be mentioned that although Shaharyar had asked manager Naveed Akram Cheema to hold an inquiry into Moin conundrum soon after the incident was reported, the chairman soon decided to recall Moin. Naveed has apparently not completed his detailed report due to PCB chief’s sudden decision of calling Moin back as no such report has reached the PCB headquarters as yet.
