ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Monday reviewed the projects under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

The CDA Chairman, Maroof Afzal, chaired the meeting.

PSDP Projects worth Rs1.94 billion are to be executed by the CDA this fiscal year.

“Since the bulk of funds are released after January (from the third quarter), therefore the work on the projects picks up pace from February every year,” said an official of the finance wing, CDA.

The PSDP projects that have seen light of the day include construction of additional lanes at Kashmir Highway from Peshawar Morr to Golra Morr, installation of security equipment and fire alarm system at Cabinet Block building and security arrangements at Parliament House.

The work on up-gradation of mosque at Pak Secretariat, construction of second hanger at Islamabad Heliport and strengthening of security arrangements at Parliament Lodges is in progress.

Besides, the Islamabad Heliport will have a security wall in addition to the existing one.

Construction of admin block in front of Gate No. 5 of Parliament House and rehabilitation and replacement of 32 lifts at Pak Secretariat Building were also under way.

The authority also plans to construct 16 flats for AGPR employees in sector G-9/2 and residences for police at Aiwan-i-Sadr, besides construction of 104 family suites.

The capital administration is sorting out the land issue for the construction of Charah Dam, a key project for the capital city.

The CDA chairman has directed the departments concerned to utilise all available resources for timely completion of these public projects.

The Member Engineering Shahid Sohail has been directed to monitor the projects.

The Cabinet Division has sought a briefing on Islamabad Chairlift project.

The idea of chairlift was conceived in 2003, but the only progress it made was the short-listing of four consultants in 2013.

The CDA management on Monday provided the details of the proposed project to the official of the Cabinet division.

The chairlift project has been proposed to start from open land behind the Japanese Park to Daman-i-Koh and then to Makiala peak near Pir Sohawa.

“In view of the slow pace of work by the CDA the project is likely to be transferred to the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation,” said an official of the engineering wing.
