SAHIWAL: A Pakpattan police team on Friday arrested a man who ‘inspected’ a girls school while impersonating an official of a sensitive agency.

The police took the man into custody on the complaint of a schoolteacher who got the wind of suspicious activity. Security agencies later shifted him to an undisclosed location, Dawn learnt.

Clad in army uniform, Tanveerul Hasan reached the Government Middle Girls School, Army Stud Farm, near Bunga Hayat by a private car. The school security guard and the peon informed the headmistress about an ‘inspection’ and a schoolteacher and some other employees let him in without confirming his identity.

The headmistress not only briefed the visitor on the security measures the school had put in place but, on his insistence, also took him to have a round of different classes.

A teacher, in the meantime, contacted the officials concerned and learnt that no relevant department had made any such arrangement authorising any official to inspect the school.

She informed the police responding to which Pakpattan DPO Shahnawaz Sandhila immediately sent a contingent of Elite Force and Bunga Hayat police. The police arrested Tanveer who claimed during initial investigation that he worked in a private security agency and wanted to “impress” his colleagues.

Security agencies shifted him to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.
