KARACHI: Pakistan cueists will make their presence felt in five international events, including one at home during the current year, according to annual calendar released by the Pakistan Billiard and Snooker Federation (PBSF) on Tuesday.

The events that will take place abroad include Asian championship at Malaysia, third Asian team event and fourth 6-Red championship at Iran, IBSF world 6-Red and team championship at Karachi, SangSom 6-Reds world championship at Bangkok and IBSF world snooker championship at Cape Town.

The juniors will travel to Beijing, Romania and Russia for the Asian and world under-21 and world under-18 championships respectively.

However, one thing that has caught the eye is proposed staging of three ranking tournaments for the second year running from four.

Annual calendar:

40th Jubilee Insurance National Snooker Championship at Karachi – Jan 31 to Feb 9; 16th Asian under-21 Snooker and 14th Billiards Championship at Beijing – March; three cueists to attend one month training at Beijing – March 8 to April 7; seventh NBP Ranking Snooker Championship at Karachi – April; 31st Asian Snooker Championship at Malaysia – April 24 to May 3; third Asian team event and fourth 6-Red Snooker Championship at Iran – May; IBSF World under-21 Snooker Championship at Romania – July 17 to 26; Jubilee Insurance IBSF World 6-Red and Team Snooker Championship at Karachi – Aug 6 to 15; SangSom 6-Red World Championship at Bangkok – Sept 7 to 13; IBSF World under-18 Snooker Championship at St. Petersburg, Russia – Oct 3 to 11; Langnese third Ranking Snooker Championship at Karachi – Oct; IBSF World Snooker Championship at Cape Town, South Africa – Nov 4 to 14; provincial cups – juniors and seniors – Dec.
