LAHORE: The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) offered sweets to Pakistan Rangers on Monday to mark their country’s Republic Day but the latter refused to accept them, sources said.
The refusal to accept the sweets is aimed at making it clear that Pakistan Rangers are unhappy with the indiscriminate firing and shelling the BSF has been resorting to along the border, according to the sources.
The firing and shelling have left a number of people dead.
This is the first time that sweets offered by the BSF have been refused.

I never understood this sweet giving/taking business!! Half the days you are shooting each other (actually, thats also not true..half the times you are just shooting random warning shots! wasting bullets and making some western country richer!) and then you suddenly feel all brotherly and give n take sweets on other days!! Bizarre tradition we have..either stop shooting or stop this sweets business!

For a moment bonhomie was set aside by Indian media when they started to criticize their chief guest Obama...merely for chewing gum...Indian media should know how to behave properly and to treat their guests with utmost respect...

Thee wagah border ceremony should be stopped. These old fashioned military show are a remnant bygone times...they only serve to enhance hatred..india and pakistan should go their own separate ways.

OMG so brave, they refused sweets, i'm so impressed OMG.
You all realize it would have taken a lot more for a Ranger to put aside decades to animosity for a simple gesture of friendliness. That would have been real bravery.

Was it a matter of prestige and honor..Bad things do happen; how we respond to them defines our character and the quality of our life. we can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by the gravity of our loss, or we can choose to rise from the pain and treasure the most precious gift we both have - life itself....And top it off with sweets and sweet memories....

@Tranquil and as if your media tells you the truth each time and as if you know how to accept & deal with truth in the face value. Do you remember Richard Clarke's comment? If not just google for "pathological liars".

Indian Army is just being aggressive in its response for the first time in history - something every Indian citizen wanted to see for so long. Had this been done ever since 1948 things would be different now. India can't have 2 foreign policies one for Pakistani govt and one for Pakistani Army.

mind sets need to be changed sweets offered as a token of improving strained relationships should never have been refused.
the people responsible for training these Pakistan Ranges should focus on their EQ training as we need to be media savvy, and improve our public image as a nation

Refusing sweets exhibits strong angriness over skrameshes being occurred between Indian border security and Pakistan Rangers.
