Notices issued to 30 food outlets

ISLAMABAD: The capital territory (ICT) administration imposed a fine of Rs54,000 on outlets serving unhygienic food items in the city. Moreover, notices were issued to 30 outlets for unsatisfactory sanitary conditions and violations of the hygiene and sanitation laws.

During the ongoing campaign against substandard food items, a bakery was sealed while 12 challans were issued to other outlets for failing to comply with the food safety laws.

According to a spokesman, inspection teams of food and health departments checked 152 food outlets and issued notices to 30 of them.

The teams confiscated 52 broken and filthy utensils and sent foods samples to the laboratory for an analysis.

Around 39 lectures on public health education were also delivered at public places.

Assistant Commissioner Secretariat Waqas Rashid during the checking of food outlets in Bhara Kahu and Khana Pul imposed fines amounting to Rs34,000 on the owners for poor sanitary and hygiene conditions.
