LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has hit out at Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s tall claims of education emergency in the province, saying the recently launched Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) findings have exposed PML-N government’s lies in Punjab.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, PTI Punjab Information Secretary Andleeb Abbas said the ASER survey report had highlighted that Punjab this year had shown depressing results as compared to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which question the efficacy of the so-called education emergency imposed by Shahbaz Sharif.

She said the report showed that Punjab was falling behind in education than rest of the provinces.

“The KP has emerged as the best performing province in terms of education standards,” she said.

Ms Abbas said the report had revealed that 43pc Class-V children in Punjab could not read Class-II level sentences. Similarly, some 37pc of the children could not read story in Urdu.

“If these are the results after education emergency, it shows the worst policy implementation skills of the Punjab government,” she said.

She said the PML-N government had spent Rs100 billion on Islamabad and Multan Metro Bus projects. Alleging that this unjust spending had not been audited, she said these Metro Bus projects were the most expensive in the world.

She said the PML-N lies with regard to ending electricity and gas shortage had warned the masses that if it remained in power, the country would be without water, jobs and food items during the next three years. “No country has ever developed by building roads and bricks but brains.”

She said a lack of education facilities especially in south Punjab proved the PTI stance that the PML-N government had failed six times in the province and would fail again.
