KARACHI: Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) Vice Chairman Imran Sheikh and Media Manager Asif Azeem on Friday announced that a National Solidarity T20 Cup for Blind will be organised from Monday to pay tribute to the Peshawar school attack victims.

The tournament, which will be organised by Karachi Cricket Club for Blind (KCCB), will conclude on Jan 22. Blind cricket teams from Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will participate in the tournament, said Imran during a press briefing here at the Karachi Press Club.

Imran further said that the tournament has been organised with the support of Sindh Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, HinoPak Motors, DMC South and Hub Pak Salt Refinery.

“The main aim of organising this tournament is to promote national solidarity after the unfortunate Peshawar school attack, and to pay tribute to the victims of the attack,” he said.

Meanwhile, Asif disclosed that since India had played a few T20 matches in Pakistan last year, the Pakistan blind cricket team will tour India this year in the second leg of the bilateral series. Next year India will also host Blind T20 World Cup.

“By organising such events, we will also be able to identify new talent for international assignments,” said Asif.

KCCB secretary Abdul Wahab was also present on the occasion. The opening match will be played between Sindh and Punjab on Jan 19.
