KHAIRPUR: Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has announced that the province would soon get its first university of information technology.

He was speaking at the foundation-stone laying ceremony of the IBA Institute of Emerging Technologies here on Saturday evening. He said the Sindh government was extending all possible facilities to the people of the province in the education and health sector. He observed that acquiring IT training had become essential for the progress of the country and urged the youth to work hard in order to effectively play their role in this regard.

He said the IBA institute was being established at a cost of Rs203 million and it was projected to completed by April 2016.

After completion of the construction work for the proposed Khairpur Emerging Technologies College, it would be upgraded to serve as an IT university to become the first such university in Sindh.

KARACHI: The Private-Public Partnership Policy Board has decided to hand over three government schools in Khairpur to a private firm, M/s Book Group, under a ‘services and management agreement’ signed between the provincial education department and the firm, sources said on Sunday.

The Sindh government has agreed to extend a Rs100 million grant-in-aid to the firm to manage the three schools. The three schools are the Naz Pilot Secondary School, Govt Shah Latif Boys Primary School and Govt Shah Latif Girls Primary School.
