Efforts to improve ties with India not reciprocated: PM Nawaz

MANAMA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Thursday that his government made sincere efforts to improve relations with the new government in India, but the efforts were not reciprocated, said a report published on Radio Pakistan.
Addressing a gathering of overseas Pakistanis in Bahrain, the premier said India cancelled the foreign secretary level talks with Pakistan on the pretext of the Pakistani High Commissioner's meeting with the Kashmir leadership, which has been a practice for 60 years.

He underscored that Pakistan desires to have good relations with all neighbours.
Terrorism should be eliminated from country: PM
The PM said terrorism should be eliminated from the country for Pakistan's economic progress.
He said that Operation Zarb-i-Azb was launched after failure of peace talks with militants, which did not succeed because they were not ready to lay their arms. He added that the operation has yielded encouraging results.
Afghanistan has promised to cooperate with Pakistan in war against terror, says PM
The PM said that Afghan President Ashraf Ghani had promised to cooperate with Pakistan in the war against terror, adding that Pakistan would also reciprocate.
Recalling his meeting with Ghani in Islamabad, Nawaz said they had resolved not to let the soil of the two countries be used against each other.
Gas shortage will be met on priority basis: Nawaz
Referring to steps taken by the government for the welfare of the people, Nawaz said prices of petroleum products and electricity have been reduced. He also said that the decrease in petroleum prices has left a positive impact on many areas — including industry, agriculture, and prices of day-to-day commodities.
The PM further said that several mega projects, such as Bhasha Dam, are being implemented to resolve the energy crisis, adding that the shortage of gas will also be met on a priority basis.
Nawaz pointed out that the economy is reflecting positive indicators with reserves, exports, revenue and investment increasing. He underscored that stock exchange is also showing positive signs.

Sir, please stop chasing Modi. He is a different kind of person. While you were born in luxury, Modi was born in poverty. You were raised by a doting family and a retinue of servants. Modi was raised by the RSS. He has actually spent over a decade traveling across India and living with villagers in their houses, as a penniless man. He has a 2 bedroom MIG flat and a mother who travels by an auto-rickshaw. He is scrupulously honest. He is a "hyper-nationalist". Don't fight with him. Its a "no-contest".

concentrate on Pakistan to establish latest industries, call Arab/other nations for establishing manufacturing hub for air buses, high speed locomotives, latest coaches, high speed streamers in place of boats and ensure 100% employment to all. A strong nation is always respected and matters get resolved.

Very interesting....he insists on holding talks with Kashmiri separatists (who he calls "Kashmiri leadership") and then claims that he is making efforts to improve ties with India. Some effort, I must say.

Every politician in in Indian neighborhood is learning from Modi... never heard till now Nawaz Sharif meeting overseas citizens on foreign tours.... actually no complaints... that is something to be happy about if some good practices are learnt.... Actually many Indian state chief ministers are following Modi's best practices knowingly or unknowingly..... Mr Prime minister you have to understand that foreign secretary level talks were cancelled for specific reason... ie for Pakistani ambassador meeting separatist on Indian soil... not only he met , he repeated same next day.. Pakistan's reasoning is so poor in logic ie ' same is established practice for last 60 year's ' .... then has this ' established practice' given desired results???

Well trust deficit has lasted for about 70 years now, so trust building can't happen over night; the only thing that should be discussed / enforced right now is to stop the firing across the border.
Over a period of time if both behave, their will be automatic overtures because of the possible economic positives for both. Let the fate run its course, let's both keep our houses in order.

Pakistan should learn from India-China relationship. We Indians have issues with china on Aksai Chin and Arunachal pradesh regions. But that has not stopped from us from trading and improving lives of our respective citizens. Its about cooperation and not Isolation.

Poor sharif didn't even begin the work. The had all the good intentions but the military cut him down. The peace talks were deliberately undermined at the instruction of the army by pakistani high commissioner knowing well that meeting hurriyat leaders before the talk would jeopardize it. It is like meeting the Dalai Lama before you meet a Chinese minister. And now, poor sharif even gave up the rightto try terrorists by giving in to army's demand and setting up military courts.

Modi invited him for his swearing-in ceremony with a very noble intention. It showed his keenness to improve the ties. What does he get in return? Unprovoked continuous firing at poor people living on border? Thousands of people have been displaced because of the firing. How do you expect Modi to talk now?

India and Pakistan remind me of two fighting monkeys and a cat story.Both will keep on fighting and at the end humanity will be consumed by fake opportunistic nationalists.Pakistan is foolishly ambitious and India is overly arrogant and at the end its own people suffer who are cursed to live in the worst situations even against the standard of third world countries.

Please stop bashing India in public forums. It has not helped Pakistan during the last 6-7 decades. It might strengthen a hate India forum in Pakistan, might even get you more votes but blame game charade will not help Pakistan, rather is counter productive for your country and no one will pay any attention in the world. With due respect,Mian Nawaz Shariff Sahab,INDIA sincerely desires,peace,Business &Travel Exchange and good brotherly relations with PAKISTAN.We are retainining KASHMIR because its Ruler Maharaja Hari SINGH has merged it with INDIA with written agreement duly signed as per the norms laid down by Great Britain at the time of quitting the sub-Continent.In a similar way ,has Baluchistan not merged with Pakistan?So why the objection.If Pakistan reconciles with the merger of KASHMIR into INDIA,there cannot be any other major issue between the two countries.Both the Nations are inheritors of the same culture and Tehzeeb ,and have lived in amity for 600 years till the British left.
