Millions have been enthralled with BBC’s TV series Sherlock but would the figure be even higher if Bollywood decides to make Sherlock Holmes their own? Whatever the figure maybe, Mark Gatiss, the actor from the series, would be pleased to see one.

Speaking to IANS on phone from London, the famous comedian shared his thoughts about a Bollywood remake of the famous fictional character by author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle: “I would be very pleased if they make a Bollywood remake of Sherlock. I look forward to the filmy dance in it. However, it couldn't be our version of Sherlock, but they could certainly do a Sherlock."

The actor was surprised by the fact that no Indian has attempted to base any film or series on Sherlock. “I can't believe that no one has (attempted to make Sherlock Holmes)..”

Sherlock is a popular detective series with Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock in the lead with Hobbit famed, Martin Freeman as Dr Watson.

However it seems that Gatiss is not very familiar with Bollywood celebrities and was unable to think of actors best suited for the roles.

“I'm afraid I don't know the actors well enough to say. I will have to take advice about that."

The English actor who would be visiting India from December 19 to 21 to attend Mumbai Film and Comic Con 2014 was all praises for the Indian film industry.

"In terms of the film industry, I think we can learn from the energy and expertise of the Indian industry. In fact, they make so many movies and it's fantastic. In Britain, they don't make much films. We don't have an industry, it is sort of staggering around. I think we can learn from the simple productivity and imagination of the Indian cinema.”

Gatiss, who is also the co-creator of the series, commented on the representation of Delhi police in Season three teaser video.

"The mention of New Delhi only came about when I was writing an episode where I wanted to show Sherlock's progress from death -- across the world and back to London,"

The actor added that though he had no plans of making an episode in India, he would be looking around Mumbai to see if any place caught his attention. Gatiss also clarified that there are no plans of making an Indian version.

“We are not planning to collaborate or make an Indian version. We are only making our version of it and I think everyone wants us to carry one; so we are," he stated.

Talking about the much awaited season four, Gatiss who plays Mycroft Holmes—the elder brother of Sherlock, remarked: “Expect the unexpected.”

"The photograph may give you a clue. We are doing first episodes, which are special in their own way and are very different, and then we are doing three more after that."

Keeping the suspense intact, Gatiss did not reveal too many details.

"But we are going to keep expanding the whole idea of Sherlock's progress towards becoming a human being, John's progress in terms of trying to manage him and obviously, with Mrs Watson the whole dynamic changes a little," he said.

With season three ending on the return of evil mastermind Moriarty, who was supposedly dead, fans are eager to know the story behind it as Sherlock too returned from the dead, that very season.

"We have to show how Moriarty is back from the dead and what he has planned. The answer to how Moriarty faked his death will be in the special season, for which we will begin shooting soon, and you will find out how he did it. There are no three fake possibilities in it," Gatiss added.
