Education Watch: Progress hinges on sound policies

“History tells us that democratic countries of the world grew and progressed after going through long and painful process of evolution not by revolutions,” said Privitization minister, Muhammad Zubair.

He was addressing at a conference titled “National Conference on Macroeconomic and International Finance, organised at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML).

Talking about the current economic position of the country, he said: “We are somewhere in the middle with a huge potential and some weaknesses, while trying to set the course for sustainable growth in the country,” he said.

NUST Business School Dean Dr Ashfaque Hasan Khan, Askari Bank Senior Vice President Mr Bakar Ahmed , NUML Rector Retired Maj Gen Masood Hasan and large number of students and faculty members attended the conference.

He said that the way forward was to strike a balance between stability and development roles of macroeconomic policies and changing the way fiscal and monetary policies are designed and implemented.
