LAHORE: An alleged kidnapper was killed while three others, including a woman, who abducted an industrialist for ransom, were arrested during an encounter with the motorway officials on Motorway –II near Kot Momin, Sargodha, on Monday.

Officials rescued the 25-year-old kidnapped man from the suspects.

According to a news release, the Motorway Police wireless control received information that some suspects had abducted a man from Gujranwala and were heading towards Motorway M-2 on a white car.

Patrolling officers Khurram Shad and Amjad Mumtaz spotted the car (LEC-3356) near Salam Interchange in which four people were traveling.

The officers stopped the car occupied by four people around 5pm but one of them came out of the car and fired at them. The NH&MP officers exchanged fire and shot at the suspect. Other suspects set themselves in to police.

The injured identified as Muhammad Nadeem was shifted to Kot Momin Hospital where died.

The officers identified the arrested suspects as Muhammad Bilwal, Shahzaib and woman Shamshad Begum, who also carried her one-year-old baby girl. Police seized two weapons and bullets from them who belonged to Gujranwala district. The suspects were handed over to local police for further action.

The kidnapped person was identified as Farhan Saeed, son of Sheikh Muhammad Saeed, an industrialist.

Farhan was heading home from his Madni Textiles by his car when the suspects abducted him at gunpoint near Momin Turn.

Inspector General NH&MP Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema appreciated the officers and announced a Rs50,000 reward for them.
