NOWSHERA: A local leader of Awami National Party was killed and another was injured when unknown assailants opened fire on them at Nowshera Kalan here on Sunday.

Police said that Ijaz Khan, brother of former nazim, Wisal Khan of Nowshera Kalan, and his friend, Noor Mohammad, got injuries when unknown assailants riding a motorcycle opened fire on their car. They were on way to attend a marriage ceremony in the locality.

They said that both the injured were taken to the district headquarters hospital, Nowshera, from where they were referred to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar in precarious condition.
