GUJAR KHAN: In an unusual move, drive against illegal water connection has been started by Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) on Sunday.

Under the instructions of Assistant Commissioner, announcements were made through loudspeakers of mosques warning those taking water through unlawful means of legal action.

Nazia Parveen Sodhan, assistant commissioner and administrator at TMA, said Gujar Khan city was facing severe shortage of drinking water and most parts of the city are without water supply.

“It is regrettable that hundreds of houses are getting nonstop supply of water through their connections with some corrupt officials. An FIR will be lodged against such people,” she said.

She added that strict action will also be taken against officials involved.
