PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani has asked the SHOs and Moharrars at police stations in the province to provide relief to people without any discrimination and ensure that every individual is treated with respect.

He was addressing a police Darbar in Malik Saad Khan Police Lines here on Wednesday, which was attended by the SHOs and Moharrars from different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The IGP said that he expected the highest levels of professionalism and integrity from them, asking them to uphold merit at all costs.

The IGP made it clear that there was zero tolerance for extrajudicial killings and corrupt elements in the police. He asked the participants to ensure free registration of FIRs in their respective police stations. He urged all the SHOs to take special interest in the recently-introduced initiatives, including vehicle verification system, geo tagging and cellular forensic cells.

The participants were directed to launch a series of search and strike operations across the province with special focus on hostels and hotels. The field officials were asked to keep close watch on individuals residing in rental accommodations and those previously charge-sheeted in terrorism cases.

Mr Durrani said that he would be sending performance evaluation teams across the province from January 1 to undertake performance audit of all the SHOs. According to police officials, it was the first time that the senior-most command interacted directly with SHOs.
