SUKKUR: Growers of Ghotki district and its allied areas took out a rally in Mirpur Mathelo on Saturday to press their demand for increasing the rates of paddy and sugar cane.

Led by district PPP president Abdul Bari Khan Pitafi, the rally started from Bari House in Mirpur Mathelo and ended at Bhitai Chowk, after marching on different roads. According to reports reaching here, the participants were raising slogans in favour of their demands.

Addressing the protesters, Bari Pitafi and others said the rates fixed by the government were very low due to which growers would suffer huge losses.

They demanded a ban on the entry of sugar cane in Ghotki district from other Sindh districts and Punjab and till the end of sugar cane crop in Ghotki.
