GUJRAT: Police claim to have resolved the mystery murder of a handicapped teacher of the Government High School, Lalamusa, as a student turned out to be his killer.

It was reportedly the wife of the slain teacher who had plotted the murder of her husband as she had relations with the accused who had earlier been her pupil.

The initial investigation revealed that she wanted to get monetary benefits from the insurance, property and the bank balance of her handicapped husband.

District Police Officer Rai Ijaz Ahmad said Khadim Habib, a teacher of Arabic at the Government Comprehensive Ghausia School, was murdered at his Qasba Mohallah residence in Lalamusa on Sept 28.

He said the police traced and arrested main accused Umar who along with his friend, Taimoor, had allegedly stabbed to death the teacher and chopped off his tongue and penis after killing him with the same sharp-edged weapon.

The DPO said Rizwana, the wife of the slain teacher, had developed relations with Umar and plotted the murder in a bid to get Rs3.2 million insurance money, her husband’s property and other dues from the government in case of his death.She had assured Umar that she would give him a share from the money and property.

Umar had been a student of Rizwana in a private school till class VIII and then her husband taught him in the government school in matric.

It was learnt that the woman, a mother of three, developed relations with Umar as she wanted to get rid of her husband who was some 15 years old in age from her.

The DPO has announced commendation certificates and cash prizes for the police team.
