SARGODHA: A ruling party MNA and his two dozen followers stormed the regional offices of the SNGPL here on Tuesday and allegedly thrashed a billing officer for not correcting the bill of one of his supporters.

Aggrieved officer Mr Qasim has submitted an application to the police seeking registration of a case against PML-N MNA Dr Zulfikar Bhatti and his men.

SNGPL sources said Dr Bhatti himself owed Rs 3.2 million to the company.

When contacted, MNA Bhatti was not available. His spokesman Khurshid categorically refuted the allegation of office invasion and thrashing of the billing officer.

He claimed the MNA had launched a drive against corrupt practices in all government and semi-government departments and wanted SNGPL officials to stop receiving bribe and avoid sending inflated bills.

He said they had received complaints against the billing officer and other SNGPL employees as they were getting gratification from most of the visitors. He did not refute the allegation that the MNA was himself a gas defaulter.
