Musharraf's mother arrives in Karachi

KARACHI: Ninety-five-year-old Zarin Musharraf, mother of former military ruler Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf, arrived in Karachi from Dubai on Tuesday, DawnNews reported.

Musharraf’s mother had earlier been hospitalised in Sharjah after suffering from respiratory issues.

Despite his mother’s serious condition, Musharraf was unable to travel to Dubai to meet her due to his name being on the Exit Control List (ECL) on account of several cases against him. The most notable proceeding against the former president has been the high treason trial over his imposing a state of emergency in the country. The case is being heard by a special court in the federal capital.

After he was indicted in the treason case, the government had offered to bring his ailing mother home from Dubai with it increasingly seeming that the chances of removing the travel ban were slim.

The former president is currently residing in Karachi where he is receiving treatment at PNS Shifa after undergoing a heart ailment in the midst of numerous cases against him.

Revenge does not pay. After all mother is mother. If son can not go and see the sick and old mother because of some people, old and sick mother could not wait for long and she took this tiring journey to see his son. May Allah always keep you healthy. Amen.

With all due respect to the aged mother, she is suffering for the drama enacted by her legendary son. He traveled to Pakistan to get a share of the loot for the 2nd time, but, did not expect this to happen.

It is very good news that Pres. Musharraf's mother became able to travel back to Pakistan to meet her son. It is sad that Mr. Musharraf is vindictively being ill treated by Nawaz. He must be immediately released so that he can participate in helping the country to get out of the present crisis. Nawaz's government is already in trouble and nearing its end. There is a possibility, first time in the history of Pakistan, that a political party other than PPP or PMLn may form a government. If Pakistan is fortunate enough, Imran will form a government to change the rotten system. Musharraf can be a great help in that endeavor. There is a very strong favorable feeling for Musharraf and Imran, among Pakistani's in foreign countries. If Imran comes to power, Pakistani's in foreign countries will be willing to help with their financial resources and technical capabilities. Let us all work towards that goal. God bless Pakistan.

@Pc Loot is for PML-N and PPP only. Musharraf was the best for Pakistan. Record breaking progress we could see with our own eyes, respect for Pakistani passport and a strong image internationally. Media freedom, women's rights, anti extremist policy, etc. etc. PML-N and PPP has brought everything back to zero in the last 6 years.

@MSAlvi you are downright silly like Musharraf. One phone call from US was enough to enlighten Musharraf to go on war on terror. He brought in drone's which are bombing Pakistan. He handed over Pakistan ki bahu Dr. Aafia to US along with 1000's of others branding them terrorist. 5000 soldiers have been killed and kargil war was lost due to poor planning by Musharraf. 100's of soldiers surrendered to Indian army. You forgot all this?

Many women say Musharraf is not corrupted. No one says how he got to live in London, his mother in Dubai, and his son in Chicago. Who pays for it. How could he buy a house/bungalow in london which is one of the most expensive places in the world. Who pays for the security staffing of Musharraf?

As a nation we are habitual of forgetting our Mohsins (Like Quaid e Azam) but the history will tell and soon people will realize who was sincere for the country.
