RAWALPINDI: Speakers at a seminar on Friday said Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) Plus’ status for Pakistan provided an opportunity to exporters to enhance their trade to European countries.

The seminar on ‘Capitalising the Benefits of Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) Plus’ was organised by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) and Pakistan Institute of Trade & Development (PITAD) here on Friday.

RCCI President Syed Asad Mashadi, Director General PITAD Anjum Asad Ameen, Chief Executive Word Trade Advisory Dr. Shakoor, Senior Vice President Mian Humayun Pervaz, Vice President Saboor Malik and large number of businessmen attended the seminar.

Chief Executive World Trade Advisory Dr Shakoor informed the participants that GSP Plus status was given to those developing countries that had below 2 per cent trade with European Union (EU).

RCCI President Syed Asad Mashadi said the idea behind the seminar was to create awareness of GSP Plus and its requirements among traders and industrialists.

He said that the Rawalpindi Chamber had always taken positive initiatives for the business community and kept them informed about developments world over.

PITAD Director General Anjum Asad Amin expressed the hope that through this seminar traders would become aware of new opportunities.
