KARACHI: The Foreign Minister, Mr Z.A. Bhutto, said in Karachi yesterday that Pakistan was a firm believer in the principle of the United Nations and had always contributed towards strengthening the world organisation by upholding its resolutions without any reservation. Mr Bhutto stressed that the United Nations reflected the true and pure concept of justice in international relations. He said Pakistan believed in strengthening the United Nations, especially because the smaller countries of the world had to look towards it for the protection of their rights.

Pakistan, he added, was a small country and occupied an important geographical position, as half of it was in South-East Asia and the other half in the Middle-East. He said though Pakistan could ill-afford to lose its valuable foreign exchange earnings, it agreed to implement the UN resolution asking for economic sanctions against South Africa. Pakistan took the step because it believed that the UN stood for international brotherhood, justice and moral laws. Mr Bhutto was happy to see that the Pakistan-United Nations Association was working with great enthusiasm for creating interest among the people in UN activities.—Special Representative
