QUETTA: Jamiat Ulema Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that the politics of sit-ins has been buried forever and the 'useless’ agitation by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek has done nothing except causing harm to economy and fuelling uncertainty in the country.

Speaking at a media workshop held under the aegis of his party here on Wednesday, he refuted a report published by newspapers on Wednesday stating that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had stopped the JUI-F from tabling a no-trust motion against Chief Minister Pervez Khattak in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. He said the prime minister had agreed with the idea but opposition groups in the KP Assembly after consultation among them decided to defer the no-trust move.

Supporting the freedom of the press, the JUI-F leader said journalists could fully play their role only in a democracy as there was no scope of press freedom in a monarchy or dictatorship. He said social media had become a vital tool in the growth of society but at the same time it had negative aspect as it kept the youth away from Islamic values and their civilisation.

Maulana Fazl said that contents of a politician’s point of view should not be changed as its distorted version created confusion among people.
