LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday sought a reply from the Ministry of Water and Power on a petition against recent increase in electricity tariff.
The petitioner stated the government increased the tariff in the name of “Fuel Adjustment Surcharge” and issued inflated bills to consumers. He said the government had been fleecing the public in the name of different taxes. He said the government had not taken any practical step to produce cheap electricity rather collected huge money from the public under different heads.
He asked to the court to set aside the charging of additional charges in connection with fuel adjustment and direct the authorities concerned to provide relief to the consumers.
Justice Shujaat Ali Khan sought replies from the respondents within three weeks.
