Altaf lashes out at 'media referees'

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain lashed out at "referees in television talk shows" and questioned analysts talking about groupings within the party as to how the MQM managed to break a 36-year-old record of collecting animal hides during Eid.
Altaf, in his telephonic address to activists of the MQM's social wing, said that 'a spectacle' was being created on talk shows and it was being said that the party had been weakened due to internal groupings.
He added that during the shows, instead of providing any analysis, verdicts are handed out with "some shown the green card while others are shown the red card".
The party chief alleged that some people were hoping for MQM's dismemberment.
He also criticised his own party leaders for not portraying an appropriate stance and said: "What’s the point of saying anything to others when our own party leaders cannot express their points of view during talk shows."
Hussain said that “ethnicism had divided Pakistan and if any one claims that all is well in the rest of the country then they are lying.”
The MQM chief also alleged that the establishment had instigated 'other ethnic communities to fight against the Mohajirs' and reiterated his demand for the formation of new administrative units in Sindh province.

You created party under the name of Muhajir Qaumi Movement, it was the first step toward ethnicity , separation of urdu speaking from non urdu speaking. Then you took another clever turn, party became Mutahida Qaumi Movement - a smoke screen to attract non urdu speaking Pakistanis. It did not work,MQM remains linguistically an urdu speaking exclusionary party.Since you prefer to stay in UK, division within the party is inevitable.

According to 1981 census Karachi's population was 5,437,984 and according to worldpopulationreview.com it is now estimated at 23,700,000. Sir how can you compare with 36 year old data. It's not more then a joke for educated persons.

Anchors are always biased. They just wants to go with the wind. They say what people believe, and people believe what they want to believe. Mubashir Luqman is a classic example. Few years back he was supporter of MQM, than he start talking against Zardari just before his downfall and now he is PTI's supporter. Let's see when he start cursing Imran Khan.

How fortunate for people of Pakistan to have so many 'capable', 'sincere', 'honest', 'hard working' and 'inteligent' political leaders, specially leaders who have been in & out of power for past two decades. (If I forgot, any quality, please let me know). If people just keep voting for same 'talented' politicians, country would progress so fast, you would not believe it.

@Fareed I am not a supporter of MQM nor I ever spoke with mother in Urdu (May Allah rest her soul in peace) but I need to clarify the point you raised that AH sowed the seeds of ethnicity . Ethnicity is integral part of any community. Much before AH there was a divide in Karachi between our Pakhtoon brothers with the rest of the city due to wrong politics of Ayub Khan. I dont know if you that Punjabi community again our brother in faith have been utterly biased against people of other ethnicities including Urdu speaking. Mumtaz Bhutto cousin of ZAB also added fuel the fire. He was made CM of Sindh by ZAB . On 31 March 1985 he announced for a new political Alliance named "Sindhi Baloch Pashtun Front" at London to propagate ethnic nationalism in Pakistan. I dont want to go in details but there have been many leaders in all four provinces who have fanned the fire of ethnicity much before Altaf Hussain. So let us keep the records straight and be honest to ourselves.

@Fareed (usa) its the 1973 constitution that created the ethnicity divide. Breaking SIND into urban and rural and hence segregating the URDU speaking citizens.
MQM was the reaction to the injustice...remove the ethnic divide and there will be no MQM.

@Fareed (usa) MQM or APMSO came about and got traction because many years after independence, when applying for jobs or education, a Pakistani had to explain where a person's father was born (in order to single out if this person was a so-called Muhajir or Urdu speaking). Then, as time passed, the question evolved into "where a person's grandfather" was born. I hope you see what this led to. MQM later became a criminal enterprise (which must be condemned) but its roots go back to the discriminatory policies which emanated from Islamabad. This is not a defense of Altaf Hussain or his modus operandi, just so you know.

grouping indication always came from platform of MQM, and thats become the topic of talk show. Only MQM knows that they are breaking their own records no other source is to verify it. Altaf bhai except yourself no others are saying dismemberment of MQM. MQM is in lead to the ethnicism. MQM is part of sindh govt and it has to get administrative units created

@Muhammad Farooq : Mr. Farooq, you made a valid point, there are too many hands in cookie jar, other ethnic groups too have been exploited. Vote bank in Karachi has changed over the years, it is no more exclusive domain of MQM. What Karachi for that matter the whole country, needs a leader who stands high above shoulder to combat the divide among different groups. If I have any gripe against Altaf Hussain that would be his frequent u-turns on national issues, he was coalition partner of AAZardari, decidedly a feudal, then on different occasions he condemns feudalism. Irony is, we succeeded in creating. Country but failed to create a nation. Thanks for your comment.
