Teenager shot dead

LAHORE: A teenager was shot dead allegedly by his brother-in-law in Kot Lakhpat on Wednesday.

Police said Usman, 17, of Sherwani Colony, was present at his shop on Ferozepur Road when Imran fired at him after exchanging harsh words. He sustained injuries and was shifted to Lahore General Hospital where he died.

Police said the accused had contracted love marriage with the sister of the deceased and repeatedly threatened him with dire consequences.

Suicide: Two men committed suicide in different areas of the city on Wednesday.

Police said Irfan, 27, of Krishna Bazaar, Gowalmandi, had shot himself dead over unknown reasons.

Quoting his family, police said they were asleep when they heard a gunshot and later found Irfan dead in his room.

Police suspected he had committed suicide for not having a child after being married for four years.

SHO Taseer Riaz told Dawn the family of the deceased was reluctant to talk about the incident and did not want to lodge a case.

A boy committed suicide in Liaquatabad.

Police said Khurram consumed poison and fell unconscious after failing to convince his family to let him marry a girl he liked. He was taken to Jinnah Hospital where he died.
