PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party reinstated some of its former divisional office-bearers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday.

According to a notification issued by PPP, Abdul Samad Khan was reinstated as president of Mardan division of the party while Shuja Salim Khan, Faisal Karim Kundi, Sher Azam Khan Wazir and Syed Qalb-i-Hassan were reinstated as presidents of Hazara, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu and Kohat divisions respectively.

Dr Adnan Bashir of Hazara division was appointed provincial deputy general secretary of PPP.

PPP provincial general secretary Eng Mohammad Humayun Khan and secretary information Liaquat Shabab said that the names of the rest of office-bearers would be announced soon.

Like-minded group shows concern over the decision

They said that organisational units of the party at district level would also be announced shortly in consultation with relevant workers.

However, the like-minded group of PPP has expressed concern over reinstatement of the divisional office-bearers and feared that the decision would cause further damage to the party in the province.

“We are not against any individual but want the party to be run on a proper track, which can lead it towards success in future,” said Syed Ayub Shah. Why organisations of the party were dissolved if the same office-bearers had to be reinstated, he questioned.

Mr Shah said that all the ideological workers joined hands and would not succumb to any pressure because they were loyal to the ideology of Bhutto. He said that they would continue to fight for strengthening the party.

“We have planned workers convention at Fishing Hut Chakdara on Sept 27 where workers of Malakand division would participate

and share views about the party situation,” he said.

The workers, Mr Shah said, wanted to extend full cooperation to provincial president Khanzada Khan but he should avoid encouraging those people, who exploited the workers in the past and accumulated wealth by using the platform of the party.

He said that majority of the senor leaders including Barrister Masood Kausar, Mian Muzaffar Shah, Abdul Akbar Khan, Yawar Naseer, Tahir Abbas, Tariq Khattak and Qasim Qasab were against the reinstatement of the former office-bearers without taking the workers into confidence.

“We are making all out efforts to activate the dormant workers and bring the annoyed activists to the field so that they can start work for strengthening of the party in their respective areas,” Mr Shah added.
