APROPOS your editorial ‘VIP culture’ (Sept 17). Delay in PIA flights caused by VIPs is quite common. It happens frequently while passengers, including women and children, suffer helplessly. Having lost all hopes, passengers eventually took the law in their own hands on board PK 370.
The lesson here for our rulers is that if the authorities concerned are incompetent, the public will take the law into their hands and very soon it may become mob rule.

This cruel VIP culture must end by all means, as it has caused extreme inconvenience to the general public and especially poor people. It is good to see that now people have started raising voice against such culture in Pakistan, and are becoming more aware of their rights as well.

But the VIPs have denied that the flight delay was due to them, and PIA has also denied delay due to VIPs. One if the two VIPs concerned even denied that he had boarded the flight late despite the fact that he was caught on camera and shown on media. Unless the national carrier does not change its policy to delay the flights for VIPs this thing will continue.
