PESHAWAR: A student of engineering university was killed and four persons were injured in separate incidents in the provincial metropolis on Thursday.

Sources said that personnel of Frontier Constabulary opened firing on a student when he didn’t respond to their signal at a checkpoint in the limits of Tatara police station in Hayatabad Township. The 24-year-old student was killed in the firing, they added.

Police said that FC man Sherhzad, a resident of Mansehra, opened firing on Sajidullah, a student of University of Engineering and Technology, when he did not stop his motorcar and ignored the signal of the soldiers, manning the checkpoint.

A resident of Dera Ismail Khan, the deceased was living in Hayatabad. His family members, relatives and residents of the area came out of their houses when they heard about the incident. They started shouting slogans against the FC man. They placed the body of the deceased outside the police station to force the law enforcers to register FIR against the FC man.

House of former ANP lawmaker attacked

Abid Khan, a brother of the deceased, said that his brother was on way to his home and did nothing wrong but FC personnel targeted him without any reason.

“Police have no checkpoint in the area but the shot was fired from the FC checkpoint, located towards Shakas,” a police official said. He added that a case was registered against the FC man and he was taken into custody.

In another incident, a bomb blast took place near the residence of former MPA Aurangzeb Khan at Sheikh Jalal Colony on Dalazak Road on Thursday evening. The blast damaged residence of the MPA, however, no casualty was reported.

It may be mentioned here that Alamzeb Khan, a brother of the former MPA, was killed in a bomb blast few years ago. Alamzeb Khan was also MPA when he was targeted by terrorists.

Police said that the blast was huge but it was yet to be ascertained if it was a hand grenade or a planted bomb. “Investigators are busy in collecting evidence from the crime scene so that a case can be registered,” an official said.
