10 hurt in clinic roof collapse

LAHORE: At least 10 people including two women were injured on Thursday when the dilapidated roof of a clinic collapsed during repairs in Harbanspura.

Rescue 1122 personnel rushed to the spot and pulled out those trapped under the debris and shifted them to Services Hospital.

One of the injured, Jehan Muhammad, whose leg got fractured in the incident, told Dawn at the hospital that he along with other laboureres was repairing the roof of the clinic when it suddenly caved in.

He said the roof was damaged in recent torrential rains.

He said some locals pulled them out and later Rescue 1122 staff shifted them to the hospital.

Another injured man, Liaqat Ali of Manawan, said he along with his wife Sobia was in the clinic for her routine check-up when the roof collapsed.

He said his left arm was fractured as a girder in the roof fell over him. He said his wife escaped unhurt as he somehow pushed her out of harm's way when the roof collapsed.

The other injured included Shareef, Fauzia, Usman, Qaiser, Idrees and Rajab Ali.
