KARACHI: Four favourites and a co-favourite obliged the horse-racing connoisseurs in a six-race card of the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Rider Pervez Ali turned out to be the pick of the day as he galloped fancied fillies Hello Cuttie and Loyal Lady home for a double. Both the horses belonged to the stables of owner Syed Sibghatullah Shah Pir Pagara and were trained by Mohyuddin.

Three-year-old bay filly Hello Cuttie lived up to her credentials by imposing to a fluent six-length victory over bay horse Janisar to win the third race while three-year-old chestnut filly Loyal Lady edged mare Gallant Act by a distance in a closely-fought battle to pick up spoils in the fifth.

Five-year-old chestnut Gold Horse made amends for the previous loss in a facile six-length success over colt Cash The Cheque to win the sixth and concluding race which was also the day’s feature event. The winning horse was partnered by trainer Mohyuddin who ended the day with a treble.

Earlier, the field of the sixth race was reduced to four following the last-minute withdrawal of Shan-e-Sindh.

Upcoming rider Asad Aksir powered three-year-old bay filly Sensational to five lengths victory over colt All The Way to claim the fourth race.

However, in the next race, the rider was penalised with six months suspension and a fine of Rs30,000 for ‘unsatisfactory riding’ on his mount Dream Girl which failed to finish on the board.

At the outset, unknown pedigree bay horse King Of Mianwali created quite a stir by getting the better of fancied colt Star Gold by neck to make a winning debut at the course.

New Hope, a dark bay filly, overcame bay horse Lucky Lyna by two lengths and-a-half to win the second race. The winning horse was saddled by Banzoor Baran. Co-favourite Gumnam had to be content with third place.
