They might be the most misfit galactic adventurers of all times, but together, they not only look good but also save the galaxy from various evils.

The 3D movie follows the adventures of Peter Quill aka Starlord (Chris Pratt) who is half alien, half human. When he is arrested for stealing an orb that wasn’t his to steal in the first place, he befriends the green-skinned Gamora (Zoe Saldana), a genetically engineered raccoon named Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper), the tree-like humanoid Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) and hulking Drax (Dave Bautista) who stay together to stay alive. When Ronan the Accuser deprives them of the orb, they fight back with everything they have got, and save the galaxy in the process.

Co-written and directed by James Gunn, the film takes place in a faraway galaxy, much on the lines of Star Wars which came out in the late 70s, whereas the original comic book was published in 1969! That’s true but even that doesn’t stop the filmmakers from borrowing elements from the greatest space film ever made. They have two CGI inspired characters — Rocket and Groot — whereas the protagonist is a ‘Han Solo kind of guy’ who cares about nothing except winning at all costs. Add a beautiful sidekick like Gamora and a wrestler-kind-of-guy like Drax and the gang is complete for any mission conceivable.

What makes Guardians of the Galaxy different from other Marvel flicks is the presence of funny elements which seem to be missing from all-serious superhero flicks. Here the leading man risks his life to save his walkman, Groot only has one line to speak — “I am Groot” — while the fast talking Raccoon is always confident of escaping from inescapable places.
