LAHORE: The Punjab University Syndicate on the recommendations of the Academic Council has allowed the candidates to appear in two degree examinations, simultaneously.

According to a notification, the regular (morning) students are also allowed to appear in any other examination of the Punjab University as private candidate or in the examination of any other self-supporting/evening programme, simultaneously, subject to the condition that candidates’ fulfill the requirement of attending minimum number of lectures of both the programmes and the degree is not in conflict with any other varsity programme.

The notification also says that the decision will have a retrospective effect.

Moreover, the degrees of all the candidates cancelled by the university in the past on the ground of double degree examination shall be restored henceforth.

Appointed: The Punjab government has appointed Prof Dr Noor Fatima controller of examinations at the University of Health Sciences (UHS).

A graduate of Allama Iqbal Medical College, Dr Fatima was earlier serving as professor and head of community medicine department at FMH College of Medicine and Dentistry.

A press release issued on Wednesday said Dr Fatima was awarded the Executive Endeavour Award for advance professional development in medical education by Commonwealth Australia.

During her academic life, she won several distinctions and gold medals for exceptional performance.

Dr Fatima has more than 25 years of teaching experience at various medical institutions in the country. Besides, she is among the visiting faculty of Brookdale University Hospital, Brooklyn, New York, US. She also has at least 14 research publications to her credit.

SUPPL EXAM: The PU examinations department has notified that BA/BSc supplementary examination for 2014 will begin from Oct 16.

The admission forms and fee will be received till up to Sept 9.
