KARACHI: Rangers on Thursday night claimed to have killed a suspect in an encounter in Lyari,

According to the Rangers’ spokesperson, the paramilitary force conducted an intelligence-driven raid on the hideout of Lyari gang-war elements in Afshani Gali. The suspects opened fire on the security personnel and in ‘retaliatory firing,’ one suspect, identified as Mohammed Zubair, was killed.

The spokesman said Zubair was a member of Abdul Jabbar alias Jhingu gang who was allegedly involved in 10 murders and other heinous crimes. The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi for autopsy.

YOUTH SHOT DEAD: A youth was shot dead in Kalakot area of Lyari on Thursday evening, police said.

The bullet-riddled body of the youth, identified as Mohammad Sarfraz, was found in Gul Mohammed Lane. Sarfraz hailed from Abbottabad.

A police official said the victim appeared to be a drug addict.
