ISLAMABAD: Despite heavy monsoon rain, resident of various sectors of the capital are still facing acute water shortage.

Many sectors including I-8, I-9 and I-10 have been witnessing water supply problems for the last several days.

Talking to this agency, a resident of Sector I-9/2, Sajjad Shah said suspension of water supply had become a routine much to the annoyance of the residents. He said he did not have water, even for ablution.

Mohammad Ali, a resident of Sector I-10/1, said that he had been facing water shortage for the last two days, forcing him to buy water from tankers.

Another resident of Sector I-10/1, Daud Ali said they were facing problem of clean drinking water, as most filtration plants were out of order.

In some sectors, water supply is available for only half an hour, insufficient to meet the requirements of the people, the residents said.

They claimed that they had lodged several complaints with the relevant offices, but the department concerned did not respond.

The spokesman for the CDA, Asim Khichi, however, denied water shortage in the face of rising levels at Simli and Rawal dams.

He said that if any official was found negligent the authority would take action against him.
