LAHORE: A middle-aged man, his ex-wife and a young daughter were found shot dead at a rented property in CC-Block of DHA on Thursday evening, police said.

Police initially established that the man killed his second wife and young daughter from first wife before shooting himself.

The IG taking notice of the incident sought a report from the city police chief.

Cantonment SP Dr Farrukh Raza said Defence A police rushed to a house on information of gunshots and found three bodies lying in a pool of blood.

He said a girl identified as 11-year-old Noor Fatima, who witnessed the shooting incident, told police that her stepfather Aamir Ghafoor first killed her mother Zara and stepsister Malaika and then took his own life. The SP said inquiries showed that Aamir, who recently divorced his second wife Zara, was said to be in a state of depression and was making efforts for reconciliation. He said Zara had contracted third marriage with Aamir and family issues were the apparent motive for the shooting.

On the day of the incident, Aamir reached the house of Zara along with his 24-year-old daughter Malaika and got into an argument with the both. He then fired shots to which the police were alerted by the DHA security staff.
