TIMERGARA: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Malakand, has announced the results of Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) examinations 2014.

Ijaz Ahmad Khan of Government Degree College, Upper Dir, secured first position by getting 973 marks, Aisha Rahman of Hira School and College Dir Upper stood second with 961 marks and Jawad Farooq of Oxford Education Academy bagged third position by obtaining 954 marks.

A function in this regard was held the other day which was attended by parents of top 20 position-holders, teachers and notables of the area. According to controller of examinations Mushtaq Ahmad, a total of 36,191 candidates appeared in the examinations of which 22,713 were declared successful with the overall pass percentage of 62.75.

In part-I, a total of 18,327 candidates appeared of which 10,541 were declared passed. In part-II, 17,864 students appeared and 12,172 passed the examinations.

A total of 2,946 of 4,211students were declared successful in FSc pre-medical, while in the FSc pre-engineering group 1,729 of the total 2,578 candidates passed the examinations.

THREE DIE ON ROAD: Three motorcyclists were killed and one was injured in two different road accidents here on Thursday, police and residents said.

They said that two youth identified as Ajab Khan and Nimatullah, residents of Arang in Bajaur Agency, were killed when a speeding car hit their motorcycle on Bandagai-Talash road in the jurisdiction of Talash police station.

In another incident, one Miraj Gul, a resident of Musazai Peshawar, was killed while his friend Rashid of Osakai was injured when a coach hit their motorcycle at Sarai. The Talash police have registered the cases.

COMPLAINT: Head of the Khwendo Kor, Dir, Ibrash Pasha on Thursday complained that ATM machines of different banks remained non-functional in Timergara during the last days of Ramazan and Eid. In a statement, he said that the local people had suffered due to the ‘faulty and out of cash’ ATM machines.

“Some of the machines were switched off and some out of cash,” he said, adding the State Bank of Pakistan should look into the matter.
