LAHORE: In what appeared to be a sequel to the ongoing administrative reshuffle in the Punjab police, the provincial police chief transferred and posted 20 police officers across the province on Monday.

Five ASPs, whose names were approved by the Departmental Promotion Board of the Establishment Division, Islamabad, for promotion to the rank of Additional SP, also got new postings.

According to a notification, Bahawalpur SSP Regional Investigation Branch Muhammad Saleem was transferred and posted Multan SSP Operations against a vacant post; awaiting posting SSP Syed Ahmad Mobin was posted SSP Investigation Headquarters Counter Terrorism Punjab; awaiting posting SSP Tayyab Hafeez Cheema was posted Lahore Chief Traffic Officer against an existing vacancy; awaiting posting SSP Raja Riffat Mukhta was posted SSP Intelligence Special Branch Punjab against an existing vacancy; and awaiting posting Athar Ismael Amjad was posted AIG Inspection Central Police Office Punjab.

Lahore Model Town SP Operations Omer Saeed was transferred and posted Lahore Security SP against an existing vacancy while Lahore Saddar SP Investigation Zahid Nawaz Marwat was transferred and posted in Saeed’s place; Township circle ASP Muhammad Iqbal upon his approval to the next scale as Additional SP was posted Lahore Saddar SP Investigation vice Mr Marwat; awaiting posting ASP Nadeem Abbas was posted Kasur SP Investigation; Lahore North Cantonment circle ASP Irfan Tairq was transferred and posted Sialkot additional SP; awaiting posting Muhammad Baqir Raza was posted Lahore SP VVIP Security; and awaiting posting Ameer Taimoor was posted Bahawalpur SP Special Branch.

Similarly, Lahore Defence circle ASP Kashif Aslam was transferred and posted Lahore SP Security III Raiwind; Rawalpindi Civil Lines circle ASP Haroon Rasheed was transferred and posted Chakwal SP Investigation; Rawalpindi Kahuta circle ASP Jameel Zafar was transferred and posted Attock SP Investigation; and awaiting posting Syed Karar Husain Shah was posted Gujrat additional SP against an existing vacancy.

Gujranwala SSP Investigation Fareed Ali Shah, Lahore SP VVIP Security Agha Ramzan Ali, Gujrat SP Investigation Muhammad Riaz and Sialkot additional SP Mehmoodul Hassan Gilani were transferred and directed to report to the Central Police Office.

Meanwhile, four SPs — Omer Saeed, Jehanzeb Nazir, Hashmat Kamal and Sarfraz Ahmed Virk -- appeared before the chief minister for selection of Jhelum DPO to replace incumbent Afzal Mahmood Butt. Sources say the notification is expected any time and Mr Virk is likely to be posted.
