10 ambulances for IDPs

PESHAWAR: Additional chief secretary Fata Arbab Mohammad Arif on Friday handed over keys of 10 ambulances to director health Fata Dr Pervez Kamal to facilitate the internally displaced people of the tribal region.

The keys were given at a function held here on Friday, according to a press release. The ambulances would cater to the medical needs of the IDPs of Bajaur, Mohmand, South Waziristan and Khyber Agencies and FR Bannu.

Speaking on the occasion, Fata additional chief secretary said that the ambulances, controlled by the political administrations, would be part of the special rapid response unit to provide health facility to the displaced tribal people.

Meanwhile, a high level meeting chaired by KP chief secretary Amjad Ali Khan on Friday reviewed the facilities being provided to the IDPs of North Waziristan Agency.

Zarb-i-Azb operational commander Maj-Gen Akhtar Jamil Rao briefed the meeting about the relief provided to the IDP families of NWA.

Chief Secretary Amjad Ali Khan lauded services of the government departments engaged in rehabilitation activities in the relief camps. The KP government would look after the IDPs till their honourable return to their home towns, he told the meeting.

PDMA director general Mohammad Tahir Orakzai informed the meeting that international welfare organisations were cooperating with the government institutions in helping out the displaced people.
