HYDERABAD: Police claimed to have arrested two robbers after exchanging fire with them on Machhi Market road within the jurisdiction of Hali Road police station late on Thursday night.

SHO of Hali Road police station, Zulfiqar Arain, told journalists on Friday that when a police party on its regular patrol reached Machhi Market road, four armed robbers on two motorcycles who were probably standing there to waylay some passerby opened fire on them.

Police returned the fire and injured two robbers who were arrested while their accomplices managed to speed away on motorcycles, said the SHO.

The arrested robbers were identified as Ahmed Raza alias Shana and Babar.

They were involved in more than 30 cases of armed robberies and killing of many people, he said.
