PESHAWAR: Unidentified assailants here on Thursday gunned down one Bismillah Khan, who is stated to be the personal secretary of MNA Nasir Khan Afridi of Khyber Agency.

An official of Peshtakhara police station said that Mr Khan had timber business on the Ring Road and he was on way to his workplace when armed men targeted him near Bannu House.

He said that the elder was living at Tajabad locality and would also participate in political activities. The official said that FIR had been registered, but no one was nominated in the case.

“Our investigation branch officials will contact the victim’s family for recording statements of his relatives after three days,” he said.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani has suspended SHO police station Kakki, Bannu, and issued a show cause notice for further departmental action against him.

The IGP had received various complaints of corruption and bad reputation of the SHO through SMS messages. He checked these complaints through Bannu police officers who in their report termed the complaints against the SHO correct.

In light of the report, the IGP suspended the SHO and issued a show cause notice to him for further departmental action.
