LAHORE: The single-judge Model Town inquiry tribunal on Wednesday summoned for cross-examination all police officers who earlier filed their affidavits about the June 17 incident.

As the tribunal resumed its proceedings, a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) member submitted a copy of an application filed by Minhajul Quran International Secretariat administration director Mohammad Jawad to Faisal Town police for registration of an FIR of the episode.

The JIT member also placed on record a CD containing telephone numbers under the use of persons concerned that had been made part of the record. The member further submitted a Special Branch report prepared on June 11 and June 14, 2014 regarding return of Tahirul Qadri to Pakistan from Canada.

An Intelligence Bureau (IB) Director, Sajid Bilalul Rehman, told the tribunal that no information was provided to provincial government immediately before the incident.

An Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) Deputy Director, Asad Ali Khan, has categorically stated that neither any report was sought from the agency nor was it presented to provincial government immediately before the June 17 episode. He has also placed on record an analysis report regarding cell phone numbers of different officials.

In the light of a statement made by Punjab Advocate General Hanif Khatana, the tribunal issued a notice to the establishment federal secretary to explain facts and circumstances of the incident leading to change of Punjab police inspector general (IG) immediately before the incident.

The tribunal head, Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, will resume hearing on Thursday (today).
