PESHAWAR: At least two North Waziristan IDPs were killed on Friday when unidentified gunmen opened fire at the registration camp for the internally displaced at Government High School No 4 Mundan in Bannu district.

Station House Officer of Mandan Police Station SHO Saadullah confirmed that the firing incident that occurred in the camp near Shawal Noor petrol pump claimed two lives.

One of the deceased belonged to Shawa area of Mir Ali.

Constable Roohul Amin present on the site of the incident arrested the accused and shifted him to a nearby police station.

According to initial information, the incident may have been the result of an old enmity. However, a probe into the incident was underway.

Previously, one person was killed and two others were injured — all from an internally displaced family from the Orakzai tribal region on June 28.

Three armed men opened fire on them, killing the one on the spot and injuring two others in Naway Kalay area on Hangu road.
