LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri on Wednesday called for a meeting of all the like-minded parties on June 26, DawnNews reported.

A meeting between chief of the Awami Muslim League, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, and Qadri was underway at the latter's Lahore residence.

During the meetings consultations and discussions were held over the next plan of action to be taken regarding the formation of an anti-government grand alliance, which would be announced tomorrow on June 26.

Earlier during the day, chief of Tehrik-i-Subah Hazara Baba Haider Zaman and Pakistan Peoples Party leader Shaukat Basra and Makhdoom Shahabuddin also called on Dr Qadri and discussed the prevailing situation and the future course of action to be taken.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Majlis-i-Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM), PML-Q and Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) have agreed to Qadri's invitation and will be attending the meeting.

The meeting headed by Dr Qadri will discuss a future joint action by all the parties.

Earlier, an anti-encroachment drive was conducted by a contingent of police personnel in order to remove the barrier outside PAT chief Tahirul Qadri's Lahore residence.

Upon receiving resistance by Qadri's supporters, police baton-charged and fired shots at the protesters who in turn began to hurl rocks at them.

A violent clash erupted between the police personnel and PAT supporters that killed at least seven people including women and injured over 80 others following which Dr Qadri returned to Pakistan.

Previously on May 30, PAT chief Dr Qadri and PML-Q leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Pervaiz Elahi and Moonis Elahi had agreed to join hands to launch a struggle for “devolution of power” after a meeting held in London.

Why cannot we keep these dual nationals out of Pakistan and tell them to launch Jihad in their adopted countries. We could have a "NO FLY" list of our own and inform the airlines and countries not to except such people who we know are trouble makers to board for a destination in Pakistan. ECL could be modified as EECL EXIT ENTRY CONTROL LIST. We are just tired of these self proclaimed leaders and Nijat Dehindas who think of themselves as a gift from God to the Pakistanis. Please keep them out of Pakistan.

Pakistan Peoples Party leader Shaukat Basra and Makhdoom Shahabuddin also called on Dr Qadri yesterday and discussed the prevailing situation and the future course of action to be taken. It is the same political party that signed an agreement with Dr. Thair ul Qadri chief of PAT, for carrying out reforms in the election mechanism and machinery strictly according to the 1973 constitution and later backed out. They are partly responsible for the prevailing situation which is a result ridiculing the Article 62 & 63 by the returning officers and election applet tribunals and discriminatory acts by courts. The powerful, rich and well-connected money launderers, bank loan defaulters, tax evaders, forged degree holders and goons entered the parliaments. However there is no last word in politics. Dr. Qadri must watch out, the fairly old politicians with a new attire my use Dr. Qadri

At least don't call it 'grand alliance'. With the representation these people have in the parliament, they should not be able to form anything more than 'mini alliance'. Media should also give them coverage as much as they deserve...

he is being used by chaudhries, the slogan of fight for poor does not make any sense.

Lets see he can ask his followers to stop paying bribes, follow traffic rules, be honest in their day to day life and business to show a revolution is coming. Otherwise he is another clown looking for power.
