HYDERABAD: Three persons including two police constables were killed as gunmen fired on them at the residence of a construction builder of the city on Saturday night within the jurisdiction of Hussainabad police station.

Reports said that three unidentified gunmen struck at the residence of the builder, Javed Shaikh and fired on indiscriminately. On duty policeman, Abdul Sattar Solangi, his friend Ramzan and gardener, Nadeem Masih received multiple bullet wounds.

They were immediately shifted to nearby Government Shah Bhittai Hospital, Latifabad. Sattar and Masih breathed their last in the hospital while Ramzan was shifted to Liaquat University Hospital city branch where he succumbed to his injuries.

“Initial reports said that there were three gunmen and they resorted to firing from three directions,” said a police official who visited the place of incident. He wanted to check the close circuit TV camera recording but it was not available readily.

“I guess gunmen were also having a back up cover,” he said.

The bungalow is located on main unit no 2 Latifabad road. Sattar was on duty there and Ramzan had come to meet him.

“I don't know the details,” said Javed Shaikh. He added that he only knows that gunmen fired on the policemen outside front door of his bungalow.

In the last few days policemen are targeted at fast pace. A police constable, Shahid was targeted in the area of City police station and he breathed his last on Saturday. An ASI of traffic police Abdul Majeed was also targeted in the area of Fort police station near Gharib Nawaz bridge area.

Shahid was gunman of SHO Lunikot police station, Rao Nazim. The SHO is resident of Hyderabad and was on leave these days.

Javed Shaikh deals in real estate business. He has been engaged with a government project of bus terminal to be built in City area but it was cancelled for his failure to execute the project as per guarantees.

His son was killed in an armed robbery in the same bungalow one and half year back and he was to appear as a prosecution witness in this case in the days to come, said a police official.
