DERA GHAZI KHAN/MULTAN: The success of talks between the Taliban and government mainly depends on the mood of the establishment otherwise they are doomed to fail, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-Fazl) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman told reporters at the circuit house in Dera Ghazi Khan on Wednesday.

He also criticised the Protection of Pakistan Bill calling it the violation of human rights.

About the ongoing standoff between a media group and a premier security agency, the JUI chief suggested either side to take one step back to resolve the tension. He added that because of the sensitive situation in the country, stakeholders should perform their role carefully.

The maulana was not allowed into the circuit house. He used porch of the building for media talks.

Talking to reporters in Multan, he said he had kept from participating in the Taliban-government talks as he knew that they would remain inconclusive.

He said it had happened for the government did not adopt an action plan he had suggested for the talks.

He said that his party would protect democracy and that all institutions should work in their constitutional limits.

“Instead of being involved in clash, the institutions should exercise tolerance and avoid being part of any conflict,” he said.

He said that crossing constitutional limits by any institution would be harmful for the country.

He said that the government should call a multi-party conference to discuss the law and order situation of Balochistan, Fata and Karachi.
