Sindh Assembly passes resolution against illegal SIMs

KARACHI: A resolution was unanimously passed in the Sindh Assembly on Monday against illegal Subscriber Identity Modules (SIMs) used in the country, DawnNews reported.

The resolution was submitted by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s MPA Seema Zia.

National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) would issue SIMs based on a biomentric system from June 1st onwards, according to the resolution.

Zia said unverified SIMs were used in terrorist activities.

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon supported the resolution and said that there were seven SIMs registered on his name, according to data issued to him.

He moreover said 5,000 unregistered SIMs were retrieved from banned militant organisations.

What action? What resolution means? I thought assembly makes laws which has to be complied. What am I missing?

Sindh assembly has been passing meaningless resolutions that are not even worth the paper it is written on. Have they ever tried to push their own government in Sindh to implement their resolutions? And how does a resolution has any effect if it is in the jurisdiction of the federal government. Don't the MPAs have something better to do with their time (when they are not busy ripping off the common people)?

A wonderful news, these are the steps that seems to be concrete ones towards ending the corruption, and Mr Sharjeel Memon is so very correct that sim's are misused, i personally went through this experience, where it was confirmed that the sim i was using was also issued to 23 more people, i do not wish to take the name of the company,but its a great relief that this resolution has been passed.
